The 2012 Presidential Race Texas Governor Rick Perry Enters

Texas Governor Rick Perry has entered the 2012 presidential race. His announcement has generated some enthusiasm that was sorely needed by Republican voters who had been rather unhappy with the choices of presidential candidates that they had previously. Immediately after Rick Perry's announced his decision to enter the presidential race he surged to the top of the other candidates and also immediately reshaped the dynamics of the presidential polls and the presidential race itself.

A Gallup poll' data indicated that Rick Perry's is very popular with the self identified Tea Party voters, and leads other candidates by at least 20 percentage points. This might be critical to obtaining the conservative voters who are undecided because, according to a new Gallup Poll, 58% of Republicans leaning independents and Republicans consider themselves to be supporters of the Tea Party movement.

An analysis by a Gallup pollster reported that Rick Perry was the immediate preferred Republican nomination candidate by those who view power and government spending of as the most important issue facing our country today and by the supporters of the Tea Party movement.

An Associated Press-GfK poll also indicated that the presidential candidacy of Rick Perry has helped to increase the enthusiasm that has been lacking with those same Republican leaning and Republican voters. As compared to only one half of those same voters last June, approximately two thirds of them are currently now satisfied with their choices. The majority currently report that they have great interest in the presidential race.

Apparently, the majority of these new sentiments can be directly attributed to Rick Perry. Mitt Romney's approval rating hasn't budged in approximately two thirds of the voters, although he was leading in the polls. However, only 12 % of Republicans consider Rick Perry as a negative presidential candidate compared to 33 % last June. These days, 63 % of Republicans consider Rick Perry as a positive presidential candidate.

However, those results may not still be valid when the general election rolls around. Only 41% of people who were surveyed were happy with the field of Republican candidates, and there wasn't any candidate that was considered in a favorably light by the majority of voters.

Still, Rick Perry is considered to be viable presidential candidates come Election Day by many political experts. There is a lot that will have to be considered between now and then. However, he is considered to be a breath of fresh air in the Republican Party.
