Vitamin C: Essential to our Physical body

By getting a good daily dose of Vitamin C, you are actually helping reduce the effect of stress on your body and in turn speeding up your metabolism which can actually lead to weight loss! An added bonus, is that Vitamin C helps how your body handles its stored fat. By increasing carnitine synthesis, the body uses the stored fat for fuel or energy instead of ending up on our bodies!

The answer is that if we can eat a diet rich in Vitamin C than a supplement isn't necessary. We just need to educate ourselves on which foods contain the most Vitamin C. Here is a list of some Vitamin C rich foods readily available at your local grocery store.

Collagen is also necessary in the healing process and in heart health. It provides a lubricant on our joints, protecting them from overuse and helps in the healing process. It works the same way as it does on your skin for your hearts arteries and veins. By allowing them to maintain their elasticity, this keeps them from hardening and prevents cardiovascular disease.

There are more than listed above but pretty much anything plant based with a nice deep color and a little bit of a tang in the flavor usually has some Vitamin C in it. If you decide to take a Vitamin C supplement, I would suggest taking it when you are feeling run down and susceptible to colds and other illnesses or have been under more stress than usual. If you are always on the go and not eating right you may want to supplement your diet with some extra Vitamin C also.

You see, Vitamin C and a good dose of it is needed in the conversion of phenlalanine to tyrosine. This conversion is what makes our adrenal and thyroid hormones. It also makes up neurotransmitters like dopamine and melanin. Okay, so I'm talking in another language? I will put it simply. These are the hormones that are responsible for how we metabolize the foods we eat and how we deal with stress.
