A Move to Central Portugal

In addition to finding self-tended spots along the shoreline for swimming, sunbathing, taking out a dingy, or having a BBQ, there is the Montebelo Aguiera lake resort and marina plus plenty of other restaurants and bars in the area.

The village of Lagares has amazing views of mountainside for your enjoyment. You can reach the mountains in approximately half an hour and here you have the 27 hole Montebelo golf course. This unique course provides the opportunity to enjoy your sport whilst benefiting from the breath taking and picturesque Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountain ranges.

In just 4 km is Sao Pedro de Alva. Here you are able to access banks, the postal office, health clinic, schools and yet more cafe's and bars to choose from. For your urban requirements, the larger towns Mortagua, Penacova, Santa Comba Dao, and Coimbra are within a half hour's drive. Many find Coimbra of exceptional interest, as it hosts the second oldest university in the world, the Universidade de Coimbra, which makes for an interesting day out. Coimbra's Universidade was founded long ago, in 1290. The unique architecture and charm of Coimbra will provide you with many opportunities to explore. Close by\Just 10 min's away is Conimbriga, where you can visit the astonishing Roman ruins which are open to visitors.

Lagares is in the central area of Portugal, within close proximity to some stunning areas, including the Serra da Estrella National Park that sits an hour's drive east. a 45 min to 1 hour drive will take you to the coastal areas of Figueira da Foz and Praia da Tocha.
