I Feel Confident That a Dental Crown Is Right for Me!

When my dentist first told me that I needed a Dental Crown on my tooth, I had no idea what on earth my dentist was talking about! I had ever heard of a Dental Crown. The only type of crown I had ever heard of before this fateful day at the dentist was the kind of crown a Disney princess wears. What on earth was a Dental Crown and what good was it going to do for me and my teeth? Luckily for me, I had a kind, experienced, and educated dentist who wasted no time in calming my worries about my impending Dental Crown and teaching me what a Dental Crown was.

My dentist explained to me that a Dental Crown is a porcelain cap, or that is shaped like a tooth. This porcelain tooth, or Dental Crown, is made to fit over the top of a tooth, or teeth, that are already in my mouth. My dentist also explained to me that some oral health places offer metal crowns as well. My dentist also offers metal crowns, I was just more interested in the idea of a porcelain fused Dental Crown.

There are lots of reasons a dentist would suggest that a patient get a Dental Crown or crowns. In my case, my dentist recommended a Dental Crown because as a form of root canal treatment or root canal therapy. You see, I was unlucky enough to have ended up with a very serious root canal. My dentist suggested I get a porcelain fused Dental Crown to help take care of my root canal. My dentist also went on to explain how a Dental Crown could also be used to take care of a tooth, or teeth, that has become broken or weakened for whatever reason. Serious cavities are also a good situation in which to use a Dental Crown.

My dentist showed me pictures of other teeth that have ended up needing a Dental Crown. Some teeth were so worn down that they were misshapen. Other teeth had cracks or chips, or other missing pieces. I even saw a picture of one tooth that had a root canal so bad, the tooth had turned black! How gross! My dentist explained to me that these were all ideal situations where a porcelain fused Dental Crown, or perhaps metal crowns, would be used to repair and protect the oral health of the patient and his teeth.

Sometimes, a temporary crown is even necessary while the permanent Dental Crown is being prepared. After all, as my dentist explained to me, it is very important that the Dental Crown fit the tooth, or teeth, almost perfectly so that the tooth structure is well cared for. My dentist told me that sometimes preparing the permanent Dental Crown takes a lot of time to make sure it is right, so the dentist will provide me with a temporary crown while I am waiting for my permanent Dental Crown. Now that I know what a Dental Crown is and how it is used, I don't think a Dental Crown sounds scary at all! When My Dentist First Mentioned I Would Need a Dental Crown, I Was Scared and Confused
