Simple Stop Smoking Remedies

It wasn't created to help smokers, but it has been proven to decrease the severity and incidence of withdrawal symptoms. Many sources cite Zyban as being two times as effective as the patch. Difficulty sleeping and dry mouth are possible side effects of Zyban. Zyban is convenient and doesn't carry the risk of dependency.

Less effective but still popular stop smoking remedies include gum and nicotine inhalers. Gum, which is an oral remedy, helps smokers who suffer from cravings during withdrawal periods. When symptoms begin to take their toll, individuals can chew nicotine gum instead of smoking. It is best used for three months and can be chewed often. Some individuals have even been known to chew 24 sticks of gum per day. On the other hand, nicotine inhaler allows individuals to take a dose whenever they get a craving, making the transition between smoking and not smoking easier by mimicking the effects of smoking. Side effects include throat and mouth irritation.

Some individuals like to use natural stop smoking remedies. Some people will place salt on their tongues when they feel the craving for a cigarette. A remedy like this one mirrors the theory of behaviorism, which states that people are capable of being trained to react in certain ways. By placing the salt on their tongues, these people will begin associating the smoking urge with the unpleasant salt taste, thus helping them to quit smoking.

It is important to drink a lot of water when quitting smoking. Smokers can also try to drink celery and carrot juices, which helps combat the urge for nicotine. Exercise can also help smokers quit by keeping them preoccupied and releasing natural, relaxing endorphins.

In order for any stop smoking remedies to work, individuals must stay true to their goal. They need to have the will and the honest desire to move past the addiction. Quitting completely must be a high priority. It is a hard habit to overcome, but eventually with dedication, the urge to smoke will cease.
