Why is the dog throwing up

Dog owners would already be accustomed to the vomiting episodes of the pet. Pet owners would already be wise to the pet's habit of depositing the contents of the stomach on the carpet instead of on the easy to clean tiled floor. It would really be very annoying if the dog would not finish throwing up in one place but would transfer to another to deposit another heap of vomit. In times like this wouldn't you want to vanish the dog to Neverland?

A dog owner should not be surprised if the dog throws up as these animals are indiscriminate eaters. Dogs have huge appetites not only for edible but also for non-edible objects. Objects that should not be in the stomach will be vomited by the dog. Dogs only have to vomit to remove the foreign objects from the stomach. Dogs have gargantuan appetites. Dogs can finish off significant amounts of food in so short a time.

Dogs have a reputation for being ravenous eaters. Fill the doggie bowl and the food will be gone in an instant. Throwing up can be the result of the dog's fast eating habit as excess food that can no longer be accommodated by the stomach would have to be expulsed.

Normally, sudden bout of vomiting is not an indication that the dog has a serious illness. Sudden vomiting usually results from the dog's insatiable eating habit so that when the excess content or the foreign body in the stomach is thrown up, the dog would act as if nothing happened. Acute vomiting though can be life threatening. Dogs have a curious personality. This curiosity may led to poisoning or a blockage in the intestinal tract. Prompt medical attention must be given to the vomiting dog.

A dog that appears to be healthy would throw up every now and then because of an undiagnosed medical condition. Dogs with chronic bouts of vomiting can have intestinal parasite infestation, parvovirus or distemper. Allergies, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease are other causes of chronic vomiting.

Chronic vomiting can lower the energy level and result to a less than appealing appearance of the dog given the fact that the body would not benefit from the nutrients of the food thus to prevent this situation from happening, the dog must receive prompt medical attention. As bouts of vomiting can seriously affect the health of the pet, a dog owner must ensure that the dog receives prompt medical attention.
